The first ever Blacken The Globe festival takes place in Alice Springs on March 30th. A film crew are covering the show and live streaming it on the internet. Blacken... features some of the best heavy bands from around Australia and is hosted by Lochlan Watt of Triple J metal show The Racket.

Headlining the event is King Parrot, grind legends from Melbourne. The band have been riding high on the success of debut album Bite Your Head Off. “King Parrot are honoured to be invited to take part in the Blacken The Globe festival in Alice Springs,” says vocalist Matt Young. “We've left the King Parrot mark everywhere we've been so far, and Alice Springs will be no different. Prepare to have your senses brutalized”

Also on the bill are Perth’s Blunt Force Trauma, The Black Wreath’s unholy trinity: The Horror, Uncreation and Miazma as well as the return of new era rockers NoKTuRNL. Organised by Alice Springs record label The Black Wreath, the festival is run by volunteers andprivately funded. “We are throwing an all Australian metal festival in the dead centre of the country. Inspired by Wacken Open Air in Germany, we aim to establish an annual event that supports the incredible metal bands our country has to offer” says founder Pirate.

Blacken The Globe takes place on the outdoor stage of the Alice Springs RSL. The festival also features market stalls and roaming performers.

The Black Wreath is a collective of Central Australian musicians. They claimed an Australian first on 11/11/11 when their label launch was broadcast live to music venues around the nation.
