Breakdowns are a necessity to the death core genre, however they can easily become generic, and that stale taste of something you have heard before. Our very own Thy Art is Murder are different in this case as they can make it beyond a singlular chug note.

The very first extreme metal band to reach the top 40 in the Aria charts with their EP ‘Infinite Death’ coming in at number ten in 2008 and again with their second album ‘Hate ‘in 2012 reaching number thirty five; this band has the magic sound and no need for any drastic changes as they are on a winner here and who said you can have too much of a good thing…..not us!

Now they return with their fourth album Dear Desolation, with lead vocalist McMahon re-joining earlier this year after briefly leaving the band in 2015. The band released a teaser video and that is exactly what it is, no song but a clip with reference to hate and war have certainly got a lot of fans excited in anticipation and gives you a vibe that this latest offering is going to be brutal.

‘Dear Desolation’ brings out some dark thoughts from hate and war to the human mind and questioning of mortality. This album is the darkest and heaviest by far! From the very start you are launched into machine gun riffs and extremely fast drum beats, you are instantly in awe and can’t help but want to start a mosh pit even by yourself. You can tell the band are creatively expanding with more solos and lead work on guitar which does give you a fresh vibe.

The first song Slaves Beyond Death is a great opening song with brutal lyrics "A life of no consequence, is now your fucking death sentence" is a clear illustration that Thy Art Is Murder have a solid point to prove and even more so, shows that these guys are really focusing on the “Death” in Deathcore.

Although expanding their sound throughout the album they are staying true to their colours Green, Gold and Black!

The album is out August 18th and with the anticipation already brewing around this album I do not doubt that they have another top 10 album on the way. This album is the metal pinyata, the more you hit it the more goodies come out!
